It tracks the transit of freight from origin to destination, calculates volumetric and actual weights, itemizes shipping charges, and provides real-time exception monitoring.
• Scope: Covers domestic and international shipments, multi-item cargo manifests, carrier assignments, freight class ratings, and delivery status tracking across all supply chain tiers.
• Data Update Cadence: Transactional data (quantities, weights, carrier assignments) is updated in real time upon dispatch. Status updates (In Transit, Delivered, Exception) are updated daily via carrier API integrations or manual manifest reconciliations. Financial fields (freight costs, accessorial charges) are reconciled weekly against carrier invoices.

Column Q: Dimensional Weight (Dim_Weight_LBS)

Calculates the volumetric weight using a standard domestic freight divisor of 194 (or 166 for air cargo; using 194 for LTL surface freight). Extracts Length, Width, and Height from Column P assuming an LxWxH text string format.

6. Standard Operating Workflow

1. Initialization & Data Entry:
   • Open the Master BoL Template and navigate to the data entry row.
   • Enter a unique BOL_ID following the BOL-YYYY-##### schema or auto-generate via system script.
   • Populate Shipper and Consignee master details (Columns C through F) utilizing data validation drop-downs linked to the facility master list.
2. Cargo & Dimensional Manifesting:
   • Input SKU, description, and select the correct packaging type from the drop-down list in Column K.
   • Enter the exact physical Quantity and verified scale Weight_LBS.
   • Input accurate package dimensions (L x W x H in inches) into Column P to trigger the automated dimensional weight calculation in Column Q.
   • Assign the correct NMFC Freight Class (Column N) to prevent carrier re-class inspection rebilling.
3. Financial & Carrier Assignment:
   • Enter the carrier name and PRO/tracking number provided at dispatch.
   • Input the commercial unit value to calculate total insured value.
   • Enter the contracted CWT freight rate to automatically compute base and total shipping costs.
4. Lifecycle Tracking & Reconciliation:
   • Update Shipment_Status (Column Y) as milestones occur (Dispatched $\rightarrow$ In Transit $\rightarrow$ Delivered / Exception).
   • For delivered shipments, ensure the receiving signature (POD_Signed_By) is captured in Column Z.
   • Review the Summary KPI Dashboard daily to identify exceptions (Exception status) and trigger logistics root-cause investigations.
